Kids for Africa Sports Academy
(Uganda)
Mission: “To empower and transform the lives of Uganda’s vulnerable children and youth through using the power of sports”
Kids for Africa is using sports, predominantly football, netball and athletics as a vehicle to engage, educate and empower girls and boys in poverty-stricken communities of Uganda.
Children and youth in our communities are at the core centre of our work. Our ultimate objective is to provide hope, promote health living, ensure education for all and
creating awareness in making informed choices about their lives.
VISION
We envision communities in Uganda that, through creating opportunities and expanding capabilities for vulnerable children to participate in sports, will improve the physical, pro-activeness and social well-being of children in our communities
OBJECTIVES
Youth Sport Uganda
Mission: “To offer educational, health and life skills opportunities to vulnerable youths in Uganda through harnessing the power of sports.”
Established in 2006, Youth Sport Uganda (YSU) is a Sport for Development organisation based in Kampala, Uganda. YSU today exists to offer sporting opportunities for underprivileged youth in Uganda. We help to develop social skills and confidence of disadvantaged young boys and girls from the slums, through working with school, and out of school football programmes.
We believe in the power of sports to foster change in our communities, and thus incorporate the innate sports values of tolerance and equality. We offer empowerment programmes ranging from skills development and educational scholarships to girls in football programmes.
Our initiatives offer a safe space to share with both boys and girls about key health issues including WASH (water, sanitation & hygiene), menstrual hygiene management (MHM), and HIV/AIDS.
VISION
YSU works in partnership with schools and communities within the slums to promote key objectives of the organisation. YSU places the schools and communities at the centre of development in the belief that only through strong communities can a household develop and manage its natural resources, provide adequate education and vocational training, address people's needs for health care and disease prevention, achieve economic well-being and live in peace.
